SORCA is an incorporated non-profit society as defined by the Societies Act. Although governance is not the most flashy aspect of our association, it is as critical to our trails and core mandate as anything we do. Past and current board members have contributed their expertise in various areas of our organization to develop a comprehensive set of policies. Below is a sampling of our official policies and reports for your review. SORCA will endeavour to be as fair and transparent as possible when contracting for services. The specific processes to be followed depend on the class of contract (Class A, Class B or Class C), which is determined based on the estimated fair market value of the contract.

Purpose: To provide clear guidance to SORCA Board members, staff, sponsors and partners on what is considered ethical and professional behaviour as a representative or partner of SORCA.

A conflict of interest may exist when the interests or potential interests of any director, officer, or staff member, or that person’s close relative, or any individual, group, or organization to which the person associated with SORCA has allegiance may be seen as competing with the interests of SORCA, or may impair such person’s independence or loyalty to SORCA.

Board members shall serve without compensation. If a board member is asked or volunteers to perform a service in his or her capacity as a board member, the board member will not charge or be reimbursed for the service.

This policy clarifies for the Board of Directors and Staff what financial information SORCA will disclose to membership and the public. SORCA aims to continue to be a leader in transparency and financial disclosure.

To maintain our Non-Profit Society status under the British Columbia Societies Act, SORCA files its Annual Report with the BC Registries and Online Services. Below are the organization's year-end financial statements. The bylaws (supported by the Societies Act) establish the specific rules of guidance in which SORCA is to function. Our bylaws and constitution were last updated in May 2024 and can be found here.

This policy establishes guidelines for naming trails, trail features, and designing signage for trails located on lands where SORCA has the landowner or land manager's approval. The aim is to ensure that trail names are appropriate, respectful, and reflective of the community's values, with a strong emphasis on furthering our collective efforts towards reconciliation by recognizing the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw’s (Squamish Nation's) language and culture.
